Replication for small airports
Grove Field is the pilot. The pattern is the point.
Small airports across the region share a common exposure: emergency-response significance paired with unreliable grid backup. The pilot is being documented from the start so that other airports with a similar profile can adapt it, rather than starting from zero.
What gets documented
- The critical-load identification process
- Storage and controls design decisions and rationale
- Interconnection and permitting lessons
- Validated performance results, once available
What a good replication candidate looks like
- An emergency-response or staging role during regional events
- Meaningful grid-outage exposure (wildfire, storm, or PSPS risk)
- Local leadership interested in a documented pilot approach
